Happy Valentine’s Day!
We know by the abundance of hearts, roses, and chocolate boxes that Valentine’s Day is almost here. We show our loved ones we care with little treats and things meant to make their day special. This year in addition to showering our loved ones with affection, why not do the same for yourself?
It’s easy to pick up a box of chocolate and indulge our taste buds, but we all know that ultimate fulfillment comes from indulging our spirit. This Valentine’s Day, try something new for yourself. Take a class you’ve been meaning to try. Try a new recipe. Watch a favorite movie from your childhood. Give yourself the gift of a little special attention.
Last month I started teaching Belly Dance classes at Laughing Buddha Yoga Studio in Bayside. In just a few short weeks, my ladies already look so much more comfortable. It’s truly amazing to see how far they’ve come. The most inspiring part for me is that each week these women set aside an hour in their busy schedules to explore a new part of themselves. They laugh, they follow along to the moves, but the joy they feel when they master a new move or hear a song they love comes from within.
Be your own Valentine this year and rekindle that inner joy… I promise the love you foster within yourself will rub off on those around you. And that, ladies (and gentlemen), is much better than a box of chocolate!
